Pupils from Yr 7-12 entered the Melksham Oak Community School – MOCS house challenge – an idea taken from the BBC2 ‘Sewing Bee’ challenge task – altering a garment.
The houses were challenged to upcycle two T-shirts. They were a blank canvas to start with and the pupils created some stunning designs.
Pupils demonstrated all of these ACORNS skills : Accountable, Creativity, Open minded, Resilience, Networking and Successful.
Mr Gibson and Mrs Lambert found it very difficult to judge the garments and commented on each T-shirt created.
Some of the house leaders will be wearing these T-Shirts in the house relay sports day.
Each house had created an original idea, using : applique, adding collars, pockets, peplum, darts, altering sleeves, creating shape and design using fabric pens and recycled fabric.
Organisers agreed that everybody worked fantastically well and the results were 4th Omega, 3rd Sirius, 2nd Polaris and 1st Place with a 1000 points was Castor.
