A YOUNG film-maker from Melksham will have her first documentary premiered at the Odeon cinema in Trowbridge next month.
20 year-old Ashlea Forgacs made the documentary, Mental Health – You’re Not Alone, to help promote mental health issues after suffering with anxiety herself.
Ashlea said, “I originally made the film because I have been suffering with anxiety for a number of years and after a bad spell of mental health, I thought it would be a good project to focus myself on.
“To get it started I posted a simple status on Facebook to see if anyone wanted to be involved, and I had such a huge response.
“The film is a piece of work that hopefully people will be able to relate to, so they don’t feel that what they are feeling is wrong – some sort of reassurance But it also includes sections where people feel inspired to speak up about their own mental health, which is the whole point of the video.
“With my film making, it all started off when I was an apprentice at Channel 4 a year ago, as it really inspired me to make controversial, life-changing documentaries. Then after Channel 4, I moved to a production company which really gave me the confidence to be able to shoot something myself. I hope to make many more projects in the future.”
The documentary, Mental Health – You’re Not Alone, will premiere at the Odeon cinema, Trowbridge, on Friday 2nd June at 10.30am. The event is free, but donations are welcome.
