HUNDREDS of old photographs from as far back as the late 1800s, taken in and around Melksham, are available from Andy York Photography from the middle of February.
The photos were donated to Andy York by former photographer, Jack Nash. Around 800 old photographs form the collection, including images from across the town of the old cinema, football teams, and shots as the town celebrated carnivals or was hit by floods as well as much more.
Andy York is hoping people in Melksham will be able to help solve the mystery surrounding some of the photographs as many contain groups of people with no notes to suggest who they are or when they were taken.
Andy said, “The photos are a huge part of the history of Melksham and it would be great if anyone could help us piece together some of them and maybe tell us the story behind why the photo was taken or what the occasion was.
“I have scanned all the photos and they will be available in buy in a variety of sizes and formats including greetings cards, so if you know someone or even if you’re in the photo yourself, it could be a great gift choice. I will also be posting one picture a week onto Facebook to see if the Melksham people can tell me more about the image.
“I will be donating a percentage of the proceeds to Wiltshire Air Ambulance as they do such a fantastic job.”
