MELKSHAM Town Crier Peter Dauncey and his wife, Joan, have returned victorious from the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers National Championships in Cromer, Norfolk.
The couple returned from the championships, held last month, with the title of ‘Best Dressed Couple’, for the second year in a row.
Joan is also celebrating winning ‘Best Dressed Escort’ at competitions held in Bromyard, Ilminster and Wimborne.
Later in the year, it will be Peter and Joan’s turn to host a competition – the Melksham Town Crier competition will be held on Saturday 28th September, as part of the celebrations to mark the 800th anniversary of Melksham’s Market Charter.
