AFTER years of setbacks, the Bath Road public toilets have finally reopened.

Two of the cubicles in the toilet block, located next to the skate park in King George V playing field, were opened last week by Melksham Town Council.
The town council originally announced its intention to reopen the public toilets on Bath Road in 2018. Their plans have been met with numerous setbacks, including last year, when the toilet’s water point was tarmacked over in error.
Speaking to Melksham News, cllr Jon Hubbard said, “You can’t imagine what we have been through to open these toilets – it’s been three years and eight months of hard work!
“There have been numerous motions discussed at council meetings; budgets spiralling out of control as we were told what it was going to cost; we had Wessex Water come and concrete over the water supply; we had electricians tell us we couldn’t do it – we had everyone telling us that we couldn’t get these toilets back open.
“So I’m so pleased that they are now open, providing a vital facility for our town and visitors to the park.”
