MELKSHAM artists are gearing up for their chance to feature in one of Wiltshire’s esteemed trails of artwork.
North-West Wiltshire’s Peacock Arts Trail flies again, from 11-19 September with an extravaganza of real and virtual events for art lovers to explore – for free!
With over 70 artists and craftspeople from Corsham, Chippenham, Melksham and surrounding villages participating, there’s something for all tastes.
Local artists who will be opening their studios include ‘Art is Joyous’ and ‘Miss Wizz Jewellery’ from Melksham, and ‘BSPK Jewellery’, ‘Grey Clouds and Silver Linings’ and John Reid from Whitley. Lyndsay Tarren-Leister, also from Whitley, will be exhibiting online.
Melksham Town Council has arranged a community exhibition in Melksham Town Hall to include eight more local artists. This will be open between Monday 13th and Friday 17th September, and features work from Joy Jefferys (‘Art is Joyous’), Ian Joad, Susan Hames, Pamela Brigden, Clive Dix, Bryan Clover and St Mary’s Art Group.
Pamela Brigden said, ‘It’s great to be given the opportunity to exhibit by the Town Council and I really look forward to meeting the other artists.’ Joy Jefferys of ‘Art is Joyous’, said she was ‘really looking forward to taking part in the Peacock Trail again. It is such a great platform for artists to connect not only with the public but with other creatives. A real showcase for art in the community.’
The Town Hall artists have been exhibiting in the empty shop on Lowbourne for the past few months, thanks to the kind support of the landlord Andy Butcher, working with Miriam Zaccarelli, the Town Council’s Community Development Officer. Everyone is invited to drop in to the Town Hall during Peacock Arts week to have a look.
As well as an abundance of artwork on display, some intrepid creatives are also posting videos of demos, studio tours and talks onto the online programme which you can explore from the comfort of your armchair.
