LOCAL photographer Andy York and his wife Christine are this year celebrating their tenth year of trading in Melksham town centre, and looking forward to many more.
Andy York Photography started in 1992 specialising in portraits and wedding photography, and printed photographs for the Melksham Independent News before digital cameras.
In 2006 Andy moved to 6a Littlebrook Centre, off Bath Road, where he and Christine now offer a huge range of photographic and framing services.
Christine said, “Moving into the shop was a great boost for the business; we have been able to expand our services and it’s allowed Andy to be much more creative and pursue his passion for fine art photography.
“It has been a successful ten years and we’ve met a lot of interesting people and loyal customers. The way that people shop has changed a lot and shops in the town have come and gone since we started, but I think we offer a service that you can’t get online.”
As well as offering a number of photography services including passport photos and creative photoshoots, Andy York Photography also offers picture/item framing and photo restoration. Andy also has photographs and prints for sale, and is compiling Melksham Memories, an ongoing project to raise funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance with a collection of historic photos of Melksham. He is still collecting if anyone has any personal pictures they may be happy for him to copy.
Christine continued, “We try to give a really personal service and make sure our customers get exactly what they want without having to leave Melksham.
“It’s a great town, and we like to think we’re community people; Andy and I are on the carnival committee and also raise money for local charities and for the Christmas lights. We’ve had a great ten years and aren’t planning on going anywhere anytime soon.”
