A MAN has been arrested after a police dog named Bracken located a large amount of suspected Class A drugs in a vehicle in Whitley.
Melksham officers stopped a Vauxhall Astra on Tuesday 31st October shortly after 12.30pm in the village, following concerns the car had been used in the supply of drugs in the local area.
The police said searches were conducted with Bracken finding a ‘large amount’ of suspected class A drugs concealed within the interior trim of the car.
A man in his 30s from London was arrested and taken to Gablecross custody in Swindon for further questioning. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
“This was excellent team work by officers involved,” says dog handler PC Jon Harwood. “Thanks to the excellent detection skills of police dog Bracken, we were able to swiftly located suspected drugs which had been concealed which will now be sent off for analysis, and make a quick arrest.
“Day in, day out, our dog handlers are out and about in the community assisting officers with specialist skills and this is a great example of the work we are trained to do.”
