A CONTEMPORARY choir is starting in Melksham and everyone is welcome to join.
PSG Choirs already meets in Derry Hill near Calne and Devizes and soon will meet at the Rachel Fowler Centre in Melksham. The choir will meet every Wednesday from 8pm to 9.30pm and each rehearsal costs £4.
Will Blake who runs the choir said, “We sing pop, soul and gospel music and our other two choirs are already growing very quickly.
“People can expect a really fun-loving atmosphere with a great community spirit. We currently have around 35 members at our Derry Hill choir and 25 in Devizes, and many people have made new friends. We regularly have concerts for friends and family to come and watch us perform, which keeps us motivated and gives our members great confidence boosts.
“Saying that, there is no pressure on anyone and the focus is just to have fun and enjoy yourself, and make a fantastic sound! Most of our members come along to make great music with good friends, but would tell you they haven’t got great voices. Yet, they sound amazing together. The dance moves we add in make our performances more dynamic, especially when our live band joins us every 4-6 weeks.
“Our repertoire is really varied, so includes something for everyone – from ‘Walking on Sunshine’, ‘Here Comes The Sun’ and ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’ to ‘Hallelujah I Love Her So’ by Ray Charles, ‘I’m Still Standing’ and ‘California Dreamin’ by the Mamas and The Papas to gospel classics such as ‘This Little Light of Mine’ and ‘Down to the River’.
