OVER 500 people joined pub owners, Nathan and Kirsty Cortilla at The White Hart in Atworth to celebrate the tenth @fest, raising over £2,000 for local charities and organisations.
The tenth annual music festival was held on Saturday 6th July and featured live bands, entertainment, stalls and community projects. Together, £2,186.51 was raised and split between different charities and organisations.
£1,926.96 was raised for Dorothy House Hospice Care which included £1,620.70 from gate donations, £165.60 collected from Felicity Frayling on the glitter stall, £93.56 from the profit of the outside ‘Dorothy House’ bar and £37.10 from the plastic glass charge.
This charge helped to reduce single-use plastic across the evening. 80% of the final collected waste was recycled and over 200 guests used re-usable plastic glasses. With this result, the pub has made a pledge to be plastic-free for next year’s event.
There were also other fundraisers including the ‘Atworth Legends’ beer wall which raised £202.05 thanks to Tiana James, Cammy and Romy, and was donated to Churchfields, The Village School for their school pool, which runs purely on donations.
The Atworth Youth Club also supplied entertainment for the children all day and made donations from the games and sale of glow sticks, making £57.50 for the club.
Nathan and Kirsty Cortilla said, “Our target for this year was £2,000. We went big and never thought in a million years we could do it! But we did!
“We are so overwhelmed and proud with this total and are truly thankful to everyone who helped, contributed time and gave to make this possible.
“Firstly we would like to thank Broughton Transport Solutions Ltd and Vinnie Scaffolder Melksham for bringing and creating our stage for the day.
“To Barry A’Court and team for helping to create and build our very own festival sign and to Lily Dunster who spent most of the Friday before, painting the car park. To RogerDean Promotions to sticking with us from day one and bringing the perfect sound each and every year.
“To each and every band for entertaining us with a total of eight hours of live music; The Corinthian Casuals, Mid Wife Crisis, The Clones, Blues Reviewed, Straight Shooter, The Alika Edwards band and headlining this year Panama.
“To our favourite glitter girl Felicity Frayling who glittered (near enough every person) for eight hours straight!
“To Sandra Davies, Garry Coleman and the Dorothy House volunteers who headed up the gate through out the day.
“To our White Hart team who worked through out the day never without a smile on their face, thank you: Sasha A’Court, Clare Drewitt, Cameron Netherwood, Tabby Williams, Laura Dolman, Dave Baker, Louise Francis, Alfie McNally, Tom Yeatman, Alison Miller, Joanne Svendsen and Lily Dunster. And finally to everyone who came, drank, danced, laughed and most of al supported us, thank you so much!”
