TAKING advantage of the hot weather, pupils from year 1 and year 2 at St Mary’s Broughton Gifford visited the river and canal at Bradford on Avon to learn about Brunel.
The school report, “Since lockdown restrictions have been loosened, staff have been looking for opportunities for their pupils to learn outside while getting active.
With the sun shining, the pupils walked from Avoncliff to Bradford on Avon along the river and canal. During an event-filled day, the children did a nature trail and explored a maze, made sketches of the aqueduct and bridges, and ate ice cream while watching traditional canal boat artist Ginny Davis Barlow before heading back to Avoncliff on the train.”
Principal Pauline Orchard said, “It’s been great to get out and about again and we were so lucky to have had such wonderful weather! With so much walking it was a very tiring day for the children, but also so much fun!”
