CHANGES are coming to fortnightly kerbside collections to make it ‘easier’ for residents to sort items for recycling
Items currently collected in the black box – such as tins and cans, clean foil, empty aerosols, and paper (including brown paper, newspapers, magazines, directories, catalogues, envelopes) – will soon be collected in the blue-lidded bin instead.
The black box will continue to be used for glass bottles and jars; and clean and dry textiles (for example clothes, paired shoes, curtains, sheets, blankets).
A date for when the change comes into force is yet to be announced by Wiltshire Council.
A new fleet of vehicles will also be introduced to empty the blue-lidded bin and the black box at the same time, rather than using separate vehicles. This will result in fewer vehicles and a reduction in the impact on the environment.
All collections will remain fortnightly – but the recycling collection day may change for some residents. Anyone affected by the day change will be informed in advance.
