Melksham Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal organiser, Trevor Paterson, has thanked local people for their contribution to this year’s appeal, which was held in reduced circumstances due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said, “On behalf of the Melksham Branch of the Royal British Legion I would like to thank Jacqui Webster, the Asda Community Champion, and the Manager of Melksham Lidl store, for allowing the branch to have tables in both stores for the sale of poppies for the three days before lockdown last week.
“Your customers were very generous and we raised a total of £1,610 over the three days!
“I would also like to thank the team at the Parsons Nose and a special thank you to Anne for preparing all the food.
“Because of the Covid restrictions this year I will not have our much-reduced Poppy appeal figures until after the restrictions end on December 2nd and we can collect our poppy boxes from the various establishments around Melksham and the surrounding villages.”
