Year 5 children from River Mead Primary School took part in an African Drumming experience last month.
The children had been learning about African culture and history during this term, learning African dance and now music. The children were taught about the different kinds of drums and the sounds they make and how to manipulate the different sounds depending on they were stuck. Chloe said, “It was loud – but fun!” Grace said, “It was an amazing experience. I hope others have the opportunity to do it too.” Chloe said, “We learnt more about the way African people live and celebrate.” The children were full of smiles and continued to practise their African dance and beats during playtime.
