SEEND Primary School embraced the spirit of Christmas by taking part in a reverse advent calendar and singing carols at a retirement home.
Headteacher Jackie Chalk said, “One of our school values is generosity and this year, for the first time, we have taken part in a reverse advent calendar where children brought in contributions for Melksham Foodbank.
“We borrowed a supermarket trolley and each day the children enjoyed adding the packets, tins boxes and jars into the trolley. This is an easy and fun way of supporting local families who are not as fortunate as most of the children are at Seend.
“Secondly, the school choir went carol singing at Meadowsweet retirement home in Melksham. A group of 31 children sang a selection of traditional and modern songs, to bring some Christmas cheer to the residents and staff.
“They were that good that the residents have asked us to attend again next year. The children were given a selection box each to say thank you.”
