A MELKSHAM women is asking people to share their cooking recipes as she hopes to have a family favourite’s recipe book published.
Bev Viveash is asking for contributions from the community so the book can be put together and then sold to raise money for the Royal United Hospital Cancer Care Appeal.
She is part of a fundraising group called Chippenham CancerCare and they came up with the idea of a family favourites’ recipe book. They hope to have around 100 contributions from the community with £1 donated for each recipe included in the book.
Bev has been involved in fundraising for several years with much of her work in memory of her daughter Nic, who died from cancer in March 2013 aged just 28. She said, “I would like as many people involved as possible. The recipe will need to be one developed yourself or one that has been passed down through the family – grandma’s rice pudding or rock buns as an example. With the recipe we would also like people to include their name and a couple of lines saying why it’s their favourite or/and why they wanted a recipe included in our book.
“We are hoping to have the book ready to be launched in September and we will sell it at our events with tasters on the go. We do not have a figure of what we would like to raise as how ever much it is, is money going to a great cause. But with Christmas coming fairly soon after our launch, we’re hoping to sell lots for people to give as Christmas presents.”
If you have a recipe you would like included or for more information contact Bev visa bev_viveash@yahoo.co.uk or visit the Chippenham CancerCare Fundraising Group’s Facebook page.
Recipes can also be dropped off at the Melksham News office, 31 Market Street, SN12 6ES.
