ORGANISERS behind the new community allotment project were given a helping hand recently from the Melksham Shed team, who constructed a new shed for the plot.
The ‘Chris Gaine Community Allotment’ has been set up in memory of Melksham resident, Chris Gaine, who died last year. Local women, Joan Phelan and Judith Gradwell, are behind the project, which aims to encourage all Melksham residents, from all backgrounds, to work together, in the open air, to produce healthy food.
Joan said, “We would like to thank Melksham Shed for putting up a shed on the community allotment – the shed was given to us by Stephen Zalick.”
The allotment is located next to the Forest Community Centre, and Joan is inviting more people to get involved.
