Most people enjoy the bright lights and pretty patterns of fireworks but not everyone appreciates the noise and for some, it makes firework displays completely inaccessible.
With this in mind, Core Church are putting on a silent virtual fireworks display inside Bowerhill Village Hall on Wednesday 6th November.
“I have a family member who doesn’t like the sound of fireworks,” said Gavin Owen of Core Church, “and I thought, why should she miss out on the magic, isn’t there something we could do? I looked into organising a fireworks display with silent fireworks, but it would be very expensive and there’s no way to guarantee somebody else won’t be letting off noisy fireworks in the vicinity at the same time.
“So then I thought we could do a virtual display – black out the village hall and use video projectors and lights to create a silent indoor display. We’re going to run the display, which will last about 15 minutes, repeatedly between 4.30pm and 7.30pm to make it accessible to as many people as possible.
“There’s no charge, people of all ages are welcome and there will be free hot chocolate and refreshments for everyone. The display will be best enjoyed sitting, or even lying, on the floor, so people might want to bring a cushion with them.”
