Melksham sisters, Chloe and Kerry Sartain, will be taking part in a skydive this week to raise money for charity.
The pair will be jumping out of a plane from a height of 15,000 feet on Saturday 27th April. Money raised from the jump will go to Crohn’s and Colitis UK, the national charity that supported Chloe when she was diagnosed last year with Crohn’s Disease – a condition that causes inflammation of the digestive system or gut.
“In March 2018 I fell ill with what I thought was a stomach bug,” explains Chloe. “ After three weeks of symptoms the doctors took me to A&E; after 18 hours of fluids I was discharged with a stomach bug. A week later I went back to the doctors as the symptoms of a bug had persisted; where I was again admitted to hospital for the second time, after lots of tests and after 8 days in hospital I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease.
“At first I found it hard to come to terms with the life long condition, but after a few months I found it easier to talk about. I have found laughter is the best medicine. A year on from my diagnosis I have powered through life, graduating from college, getting my first full time job and now jumping out of a plane!
“I don’t take any day for granted and live life to the full. Crohn’s Disease is a life long chronic illness affecting your digestive system. It is most commonly diagnosed when people are aged between 20-29 and affects over 115,000 people in the UK.
“I am determined to find a cure for Crohn’s Disease in my lifetime. That’s why me and my sister, Kerry, will be jumping out of a plane at 15,000ft to raise money for Crohn’s and Colitis UK. I am Chloe Sartain and with Crohn’s and Colitis UK I keep fighting! Together we will find a cure. If you would like to sponsor me please visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ chloe-sartain.”
