Seend Fawlty Players will perform their 40th village pantomime, Snow White, in Seend Community Centre, Rusty Lane, Seend SN12 6NS on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd February at 7.30pm and on Saturday 23rd February at 7pm.
The first ever Fawlty panto was back in 1980 with an adapted second-hand script of Cinderella and a cast made up mostly of people who had never trod the boards before. Since then, the Fawlties have always written their own original scripts to suit the cast available and now have a number of experienced and able performers. Previous productions of Snow White were in 1981 and 1996, with Jackie Hamblin playing the title role in both.
Jackie is in this year’s panto, alongside her grown-up son Josh, but no longer as the juvenile lead. Two other members of the current cast were also in the 1981 version. You can expect the usual Fawlty fun and audience participation, plus a principal boy with a difference.
You’ll have to come along to see the show to find out what we mean. Tickets cost £6 or £3 for children and are available from Seend Shop/PO, Seend Community Centre and the Brewery Inn in Seend Cleeve. Proceeds will go towards new play equipment for Seend Lye Recreation Field, and Seend branches of the Royal British Legion and the WI, and Seend Playgroup will run interval raffles for their own funds.
