A LOCAL golf club has presented the Wiltshire Air Ambulance (WAA) with a cheque for £4,130 following two years of fundraising for the charity.
At the Whitley Golf Club’s presentation evening on Friday 27th January the funds were officially donated to the air ambulance charity that provides an emergency service to the people of Wiltshire and surrounding areas.
Boyd Jackson, golf manager at the club, said, “We run lots of fundraising events throughout the year and any money raised goes straight into the charity pot. The club captains that change every two years, choose which charity the club supports for the two years. We have been supporting the Wiltshire Air Ambulance for over 10 years or so because they keep getting picked.
“Due to covid we haven’t been able to make a donation to the WAA as the evenings where we present the cheque were cancelled but now we have been able to run the event like normal and give them a cheque for £4,130.
“Our fundraising events vary include bingo, BBQs, Christmas raffles, the annual Captain’s Charity Day and some golf competitions throughout the year. We have many members within the club who all get involved in volunteering to help us raise as much money as possible; they are incredibly supportive.
“We will be supporting the WAA again for the next two years and will have another cheque presentation in 2025.”
