Semington’s St George’s C of E School has received a ‘good’ rating in their newly-released SIAMS report.
Following a visit on 6th December, the school has been awarded a ‘good’ rating in all areas by the inspector. Writing in the report, the inspector noted that, “pupils’ attainment and achievement have risen dramatically in the last eighteen months.”
The Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) is a mandatory inspection carried out at all Anglican and Methodist schools nationwide. It is an influential guide which measures the impact of each school’s Christian vision on their pupils’ lives.
Jackie Chalk, executive head said, “After two years of very hard work from the staff, parents, and children at the school, we are delighted to have some external validation regarding the improvement in standards and wellbeing.
“While celebrating all the positive comments made, we will also be using the report to build on the next steps we had already identified for continued improvement.”
In September 2017, new leadership was installed at the school, and significant restructuring was undertaken. Shortly after, the school joined the Swindon-based White Horse Federation multi-academy trust.
This is the first significant inspection of the school since those changes were made, and it is a useful indicator of just how effective those changes have been and the impact they have had at the school over the last two years.
