STRIDING Bear Kitchen has partnered with High Street micropub, The Hiding Place, offering customers delicious home-cooked food to complement their pint of craft beer.
Working in the kitchen is business owner, Canadian-born Jeff Mills – who last year made Melksham his home – bringing with him a passion for cooking food from scratch, using the best local ingredients and free range meats wherever possible.
Inspired by Jeff’s North American background and cooking methods taught to him by his mother – all with a European twist – Striding Bear Kitchen offers a choice of stone-baked pizzas, home-cooked chowders, and ‘create your own’ sharing boards of cheeses and meats.
Speaking to Melksham News, Jeff said, “My approach is all about making affordable, honest grub from scratch that people can enjoy when out for a tasty beer. I’m a one-man operation with a tiny kitchen, so it ain’t fine dining! All my raw meats are purchased from I.D. Newman & Son butchers around the corner, ensuring a reliable source for free range meats. Come down and slap a chowder into ya!”
Owners of The Hiding Place, local couple Malcolm Shipp and Karen Davis added, “Jeff’s food has gone down a storm – the customers are raving about it! Striding Bear Kitchen really complements what we have achieved here at The Hiding Place – a comfortable, relaxed, vibrant atmosphere; with no hassle, no fuss, just people enjoying good quality drinks in a nice environment – but now with some top-notch food!”
Striding Bear Kitchen serves food at The Hiding Place, 15 High Street, on Fridays 5pm-9pm; Saturdays 1pm-9pm; and Sundays 3pm-8pm. The Hiding Place micropub is open Tuesday to Thursday 5pm-9pm; Friday 2pm-9.30pm; Saturday 12pm-9.30pm and Sunday 2pm-8pm.
