Melksham Comic-Con has announced that this year, for the first time in its history, a cosplay competition will be held at the event.
On Sunday 31st August, the convention will play host to a competition to determine the best costumes from several categories, with trophies available for each category’s winner. Entrants can choose to create costumes based on established characters from the worlds of comics, film, television and video games, or may use the opportunity to display their own creations to the world.
The competition will be graded at different levels, in order to suit experienced cosplayers as well as novices, and there will also be a teens and children category for the younger attendees that might want to get involved.
According to event founder Hayley Spencer the competition was introduced, “Based on attendee feedback from the last two years, so we’ve listened and are bringing people new things that they’ve asked for!”
More information, the rules and the sign-up process for the competition will be posted on the Melksham Comic-Con website very soon, so keep checking the site to find out how to enter, and get to work creating those costumes.
Tickets for the two-day event are still available either in person from Komix Melksham (at the Roundhouse), or from www.melkshamcomiccon.com. Advance ticket holders will have an opportunity to pick up an exclusive goody bag, but these are extremely limited and will not be available for everyone, so early arrival on the Saturday will be necessary to grab one.
