IT’S been a busy fortnight for local police in Melksham.
“The last fortnight has been a testing time for the Melksham team,” reports acting inspector James Twyford. “We’ve reached the time of year where we’re spending more time at community events; also supporting larger county events such as the Summer Solstice operation.
“In between all that, we’ve conducted visits as part of ‘Operation Aidant’, where we visit workplaces susceptible to human trafficking issues and speak with employees. We identified one illegal worker and a number of offences during these visits, which have been dealt with.
“We’ve also welcomed PCSO Melissa Culliford to the team. She joins the town centre team along with PCSO Luke Hosken, PC Alan Paterson and PC Jen Miller.
“Our local priority for last month was to deal with three individuals, who were jointly responsible for 12% of the town centre crime. Bespoke interventions have been put into place and we’re yet to see their name attached to any reports this month.”
