MARKET trader Ken Langley was welcomed back to Melksham’s Tuesday market last week after his ban was lifted by Wiltshire Council.
“It’s good to be back,” said the owner of Ken’s Fresh Fish, “and again a huge thank you to all my supporters, especially Pauline [Baker] who has been my biggest champion.”
Local Pauline Baker said, “Hooray and hurrah! Just shows that protesting to the ‘Great White Chiefs’ in Trowbridge if something happens, which gets right up your nose, occasionally results in the jobsworths of this world getting their comeuppance!”
Ken had been absent from the weekly market for eight weeks. The fishmonger had been banned from all Wiltshire Council markets after he turned up to trade in the Market Place on a day in August when the market had been cancelled due to expected high winds.
But following a huge public outcry to a story in the Melksham News, Wiltshire Council back-tracked on their decision.
