THE Manfreds featuring original Manfred Mann members Paul Jones, Tom McGuinness and Mike Hugg, will be heading to the Assembly Hall in June.
As well as tracks from their new album ‘Makin’ Tracks’ they will be performing many of their classic hits including ‘Pretty Flamingo’, ‘Do Wah Diddy Diddy’, and ‘Mighty Quinn’.
Original members Paul Jones (vocals and harmonica), Tom McGuinness (guitars) and Mike Hugg (keyboards) are joined on stage by Marcus Cliffe (bass), Simon Currie (flute and sax) and Rob Townsend (drums).
Recently interviewed by music writer Martin Hutchinson, guitarist Tom McGuinness said, “It will be a great night, as Paul always gets the audience going and it’s great hearing them join in all the songs.”
Band members Tom, Paul and Mike might all be in their seventies, but they show no signs of slowing down, “No, we all enjoy it too much. It’s great getting paid to do what you love for a living, and it’s far too late now for me to get a ‘proper’ job.” revealed Tom in his chat with Martin.
The Manfreds take to the Assembly Hall stage on Thursday 1st June. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets cost £21 and are available from the Assembly Hall on 709887, Melksham TIC in Church Street or visit www.melkshamtown.co.uk/assemblyhall
