FRIENDS, Sue Mortimer and Pat Cox, celebrated their 50th Melksham parkrun this month by completing the course three-legged!
The pair raised nearly £300 for charity – Sue was running for Parkinson’s UK in memory of her brother Jeffery Hayton who died of Parkinson’s three years ago; whilst Pat was running for the Alzheimer’s Society, a disease that two of her brother-in-laws live with.
Their 50th parkrun took place on Saturday 9th November. Sue said, “The day would have been my brother Jeff’s 70th birthday.
“We had lots messages of encouragement on our training days and on the day of the run itself. We were very pleased to complete the 5k in 54 minutes.
“We would like to thank family, friends and runners for their contributions and support on the day.”
Melksham parkrun is the free weekly 5k run held every Saturday at 9am in King George V playing field.
