The next Tidy Town Day will be on Sunday 6th December.
Volunteers meet at the Town Hall at 1.00pm and join in for a couple of hours of litter picking and a bit of winter gardening, with tea at 3.00pm.
Miriam Zaccarelli, deputy clerk said, “The litter shouldn’t be too bad as the Christmas Fayre is the day before and the volunteers who organise that event are fantastic at cleaning up afterwards.
“As well as that, Wiltshire Council are still providing a daily cleaning service in Melksham so the litter problem is not nearly as bad as anticipated following the redundancy of Ian Knight, the much loved Melksham barrowman. So we will do the usual litter check but will also be able to focus on tidying up some flower beds for winter. It’s great that we have kept this first Sunday of the month for nearly a year now, which shows incredible commitment and pride of people for keeping Melksham looking great all year round.”
To join in, people are invited to show up at the Town Hall in suitable clothes at 1.00pm. Tools, gloves and refreshments will be provided and everyone who joins in will earn one Time Credit for each hour given.
