Parents with children under school age can expect a warm welcome every Thursday morning at Melksham United Church in the High Street, when the back hall is opened up for ‘Little Gems’.
With no attendance charges, this group was founded by a young mother four years ago to provide a place to chat and ‘have a cuppa’ and give her child an opportunity to play with others. Since then, many parents and children have appreciated the refreshments and well equipped play activities throughout the year.
Babies and up to school age children can enjoy a snack, lots of toys and regular activities such as singing and general play in a safe environment. Meanwhile, parents get the opportunity to meet others and form friendships which often continue outside the group.
As well as being free, an added attraction of Little Gems is that they also remain open throughout the summer holidays, so that those staying local can enjoy the benefits of company and play over this sometimes lonely school break.
“Little Gems is one of the treasures of the Melksham community waiting for you to enjoy. Interested? Drop in between 10am – 11.30am on a Thursday.”
