Melksham Town Council has set its budget for the next financial year – agreeing a precept increase of just under 5%.
Town clerk for the town council, Linda Roberts, said, “At the town council meeting held on Monday 20th January members approved a budget of £884,910 for the financial year April 2020 – March 2021 which is a rise of 4.6%.
“To you the Melksham taxpayers, that is a rise of £7.11 per year on a Band D property.
“In preparing its budget for 2020-21, the town council has examined closely where it can make savings (both in terms of cuts and further efficiencies), while at the same time providing the projects, functions and services that the community of Melksham expect to be delivered by the town council.
“Each year, having regard to any advice received from the internal and external auditors, the council reviews its financial management arrangements and makes any changes necessary to facilitate the effective operation and efficient delivery of its services and responsibilities.
“Below is a table showing what you will pay to Melksham Town Council for the 2020-2021 financial year, depending on the council band of your property.”
