MELKSHAM Seniors are inviting you to join them in the celebration of International Day of Older People on Monday 1st October with a special fun day and the opportunity for local businesses to get involved.
Melksham has become the first rural town in the UK to be a member of the UK Age-Friendly Network and Melksham Seniors are inviting the whole community to participate in the International Day of Older People during the first week of October.
On Monday 1st October, to coincide with their first Monday of the month meeting, the Seniors are having a special funday celebration starting at 1pm and finishing at 4.30pm at Forest Community Centre.
There will be a number of fun activities including the opportunity to have your antiques and curios valued by an expert from King Street Curios, Melksham Shed will be there to show you what goes on at the shed and demonstrate practical ways in which they are helping the community, and also sing-alongs and keeping fit to music.
Brian Warwick, president of Melksham Seniors is inviting local businesses to also participate in the celebrations by offering their own special service aimed for older clients.
Brian said, “A good example is what both Manchester and Bristol international restaurants have done in past years. They have offered their own older people and those of other nations a range of special meals at affordable prices. The events provided a wonderful opportunity to market their own business in a unique way to new customers.
“Many professional services provided a range of free services, and the business communities came up with many excellent marketing projects aimed directly at this attractive sector of their market.
“It is an opportunity for all our wide range of businesses to demonstrate and participate, to market their own individuality and services to our ageing society in a very friendly way.”
