MELKSHAM Town FC is now the home of a giant state-of-the-art LED display screen that will bring exciting opportunities to the club, including a new sponsorship deal with the technology company, infiLED, who gifted the screen to the club.
The screen, worth £50,000, has been donated to the club by local electronics manufacturer infiLED EM International Ltd, who moved to Melksham last year. Opportunities for the club will include sponsorship deals, real-time playbacks and the chance to show the World Cup games live.
During the switch-on event, news was announced that infiLED and Melksham Town Football Club have entered a three-year partnership that will see, as of Sunday 1st July, the football pitch to be renamed the “infiLED arena at Oakfields”.
The new screen, which is one of the largest in the country outside of the Premier League, was officially switched-on on Tuesday 17th April and then used for the first time during the reserves’ match that evening.
The screen was then used during the 1st team game on Thursday 19th April, where the feedback was very positive. The full use of the screen is yet to be explored until Wi-Fi is introduced at Oakfields, which will hopefully be fully operational in the next few weeks.
Darren Perrin, chairman of Melksham Town Football Club said, “This screen is truly amazing and will give the team a lot more scope during games including having the score up high for all to see, we can now offer great advertising and sponsorship deals for businesses and individuals, we can stream World Cup games, show the teams’ logos and team sheets – the usage is never-ending! It really will raise the profile of Melksham Town Football Club and make us look more professional.
“We would really like to thank infiLED, especially CEO David Da Costa and his son Ben, who donated this screen to us. It is a fantastic place to showcase their work.”
Darren Perrin continued, “We are truly delighted and honoured to be associated with such a prestigious and professional company that is infiLED. Their support is really fantastic and we are looking forward to working with them across the three years.”
The donation will also give the club the opportunity to build ties with one of the fastest growing cities in the world, Shenzhen in China, the electronics manufacturing capital of the world and the home of infi-LED’s parent company.
