MELKSHAM Town under 10 Harriers have been crowned Mid Wilts Sportsmanship of the year team award for the 2017/18 season.
After each scheduled league game, the opposing manager of a side scores the other team on categories such as facilities, behaviour of players and supporters, sportsmanship and overall enjoyment of the game. With approximately 40 teams across four leagues, Melksham under 10 Harriers were crowned champions, scoring the highest.
On behalf of the team, Paul Stokes said, “It feels fantastic for the team to win this award. The team has not been the strongest ability-wise, but the boys have shown some great commitment and enthusiasm, so it was much deserved. I and all the parents are extremely proud of the team.
“It was an average season, playing 17 games coming away with six wins, eight losses and 3 draws, although in the latter half of the season their results were much better, winning more games than losing. For these boys, they are over the moon as it is their first award they have won and is a reflection of their dedicated approach to football.”
