THE Melksham Townswomen’s Guild met for their monthly meeting on Friday 8th June at the United Reform Church and was very well attended.
The chairman, Mrs Tricia Hoy brought the members up to date with all arrangements made for outings in June and September, and for the next monthly meeting in July. Details of correspondence were given by the secretary, Mrs Christine Hartnell, and Mrs Valerie Burke gave the monthly treasurer’s report.
After tea and biscuits we were entertained by Dr Kathy Stearne with an illustrated talk about Vikings and their voyages of exploration to Britain and other continents; where they went and why, and in particular their impact on our past history.
The next meeting and annual cream tea will be on Friday 13th July which will be at the chairman’s home. Contact 01225 704805 for further details.
