The Avon Bowls Club was officially opened on Saturday 13th of April for the start of the 2019 out door bowling season.
The club reports, “The opening ceremony commenced with Club Captains Danny Holland and Marcia Hartley raising the club flag. This was followed by club members forming home and away teams to battle it out over 16 ends. The weather was fortunately dry but very cold. The game was played in good spirit and afterwards, everyone retired to the club house for drinks and a splendid tea.
“On Friday 26th of April our club is open to the public to try out bowling. We are providing three sessions during the day as follows: 10am to midday, 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. All are welcome. All equipment will be provided where necessary, but please have flat bottomed shoes to wear whilst on the green.
“The club offers excellent opportunities for everyone to enjoy the sport, it caters for ladies and men, young and old and is ready to welcome new members throughout the season. Fully qualified club coaches are ready to offer training and advice to all of us, including existing members but especially for newcomers, to ensure that they get the best possible introduction to the game.
“The club is situated on the site of the proposed campus.
