Melksham Ukulele Social Club has presented Wiltshire Mind with a cheque for £200.
The group collect for charity when they play at gigs or ask the event organisers to contribute towards their chosen charity.
Aksana Coxhead who has been a member of the group since it began in 2013 said, “Given that we don’t do all that many gigs and one of them last year was for Red Nose Day at Sainsbury’s, where collection was separate, we are rather pleased with the amount raised.”
Lianne Miller-Hall, assistant manager of the charity Wiltshire Mind shop on Church Street said, “We are very grateful for the donation. We don’t receive any funding from the government or the national charity Mind, so we rely solely on fundraising and donations.
Carolyn Beale, Chief Exec added, “We rely on local support to enable us to continue to provide the nine support groups and counselling we offer across Wiltshire; we would like to encourage other groups to lend their support to Wiltshire Mind – for more information on our work please visit

Aksana from the Ukulele group continued, “MUSC meet weekly on Thursday evenings, 7.30-9.30pm and we welcome anyone interested. You do not have to have a ukulele yet as we have some club spares. It is fairly easy to get started and club members help each other, however, we are not a teaching club. The first two sessions are free, after which membership costs only £5 a month.”
