The Melksham Gardeners’ Society had a talk about ‘classic, rare and unusual bulbs’ by their guest speaker Gill Hazel to another full hall, on 29th October.
They report, “It was a lively, funny talk with Gill telling us all about how her business came about almost by accident and how she and her late husband got to know so much about bulbs, including their many trips to the Netherlands.
“There was a photo slideshow of many unusual bulbs and how to grow them – listening to the audience, it was interesting to see how many of them had actually grown some of the ones shown. Obviously Melksham Gardeners like to grow more unusual plants than would be thought! Many thanks to Gill for entertaining us on a chilly October evening.
“In November, we will be off to Waddesden Manor for our last trip of the year to see the gardens in winter – still wonderful to walk around even in winter, with a visit to the hall and the Christmas Market.
“Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 28th January 2020. Make a note in your diary as a New Year’s Resolution to come along and join in.
“New members and guests are always welcome. Entry is only £1 for members and £2 for guests for each meeting. Our annual membership has also remained at only £10; we don’t think there is any other gardening society or club that can beat us for value, so make a note in your diary as a New Year’s Resolution to come along and join us.
