LOCAL veterans who are battling Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) are being offered a free opportunity for a peaceful and fulfilling future, thanks to Westbury’s Leighton House Community Interest Company (LHCIC).
Funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, LHCIC, in collaboration with Jim Lepingwell of Critical Mass Coaching, offers a technique called rewind therapy to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories.
“The memories are detached from the associated feelings and reactions enabling them to remain in the past rather than intrude into present life at the drop of a hat, or a plate, or fireworks or even a car backfiring,” says Jim.
“Crucially, rewind therapy doesn’t involve talking about the traumatic events in any detail which makes it attractive to veterans, particularly when the events may be confidential as well as distressing.”
Senior soldier, CoH Glynn Bell, recently underwent the therapy with Jim in a session at the Laverton, Westbury.
Afterwards Glynn reflected, “I was very surprised by how simple the process was and even more with the positive results from only one sitting.”
Jim added, “With an impressive success rate of 80%+, rewind therapy has helped in conflict situations world-wide, including post genocide Rwanda and is on track to be used in Ukraine. This outstanding 80% is achieved in very few sessions, often just one is required.
“Offering this free rewind therapy is fulfilling one of the aims of LHCIC, to increase the positive legacy of serving in the armed forces for veterans and their community. Treatment is for the individual veteran but the ripple effect will include their families, friends and their local community too.
“Veterans will be helped to bring themselves more openly and fully to all their relationships, personal and professional. If this affects you or someone close to you do get in contact withme at Critical Mass Coaching on 07534 306115 or jim@criticalmasscoaching.earth.”
