WORK is progressing to construct the new village hall for Berryfield.
Construction of the new hall, located on Telford Drive in the new Bowood View housing development, began in January. The new hall, which is expected to open in the autumn, will replace the hall currently based on Berryfield Park.
Melksham Without Parish Council’s clerk, Teresa Strange, said, “We have now had three meetings with residents who have chosen all the finishes, colours and specification details. Care has been taken to ensure there are contrasting colours to aid the visually impaired.
“They will next be working on details for signage, furniture and fittings, and the soft landscaping choices; to include a Platinum Jubilee tree to mark the hall being built in 2022.
“We have lots of local contractors involved in the construction, including the latest who are AL King Roofing from literally ‘just down the road’! They are currently installing the roof and the solar panels. The solar panels will power the underfloor heating. The building will also have air source heat pumps.
“For any enquiries for hiring the hall or getting involved as a local resident in running the hall then please get in touch.”
