VILLAGERS in Shaw and Whitley are invited to a meeting at Shaw Primary School Hall on Thursday 13th October to hear how the villages will cope in the event of severe weather.
In 2014, over 200 villages met to discuss storm damage which badly affected Shaw and Whitely in that year.
The meeting will be an opportunity hear what steps have been taken to alleviate the situation in the event of another storm.
The meeting will be chaired by Richard Wood, Chair of Melksham Without Parish Council and Michelle Tattersall, Chair of Community Emergency Group (CAWS), with input from Teresa Strange, Clerk MWPC, Simon Jacobs, Wiltshire Councillor with responsibility for Flood Management, Danny Everett, Drainage Engineer, Stuart Renfrew, Parish Steward, and Vicky Farwig from the Environment Agency. In addition there will be representatives from Shaw & Whitley Community Emergency Group and CAWS.
This is your opportunity to hear information on what the Community Emergency Group of Shaw and Whitley have been doing to prepare to help villagers when a storm may hit the area again and future plans from the various groups and agencies. There will be time given for questions from anyone attending and time to chat with the speakers after the meeting. The meeting will start at 7.30pm.
