RESIDENTS in Semington have complained that they have been left without a Post Office outreach service for the past six weeks, with no news of when it will re-open.
Local resident Peter Vooght contacted Melksham News and said, “We haven’t had our usual Post Office service for up to six weeks. They said they were closing it temporarily, trying to improve the system, but it has yet to be reopened and no one knows when it will be back, so feelings in the village are starting to run high.”
The post office operates from Semington Village Hall on Mondays and Thursdays.
A Post Office spokesperson said, “We are working hard to restore an outreach service in Semington as soon as possible. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by the unplanned temporary closure due to telecommunications issues.
“We understand and appreciate how much communities rely on our services and we are work with our telecommunications partners to resolve the issue. Alternative branches include Hilperton and Melksham.”
Alternative branches are: Hilperton Post Office, 9 Hackett Place, Hilperton, BA14 7GW (open Monday to Saturday: 7am – 10pm and Sunday: 10am – 4pm.) Melksham Post Office, 31 Church Street, Melksham, SN12 6LU (open Monday to Friday: 9am – 5.30pm and Saturday: 9am – 12.30pm.)
