Melksham Walking Netball Club have new team tops which were donated by the Melksham Almshouses Charities.
The team applied for a grant in order to pay for the tops that have been purchased from Sportsbug in Melksham. “We would like to give the Melksham Almshouses Charities a big thank you,” says club member, Sue Mortimer. “The new tops are a real hit!”
Chair of the Melksham Almshouses Charities, Pat Aves, said, “The shirts are striking and have the individual names of each player printed on the arm of the shirt, for easy identification whilst playing. Apart from being outstandingly smart, the new shirts have increased the team’s confidence and hopefully will produce a winning streak!
“Walking netball is not as easy as it looks. It requires greater planning of each move when walking instead of the instant, automatic and fast-paced moves of ‘normal’ netball.”
The walking netball team meets on Mondays from 4pm to 5pm at the Melksham Campus. And welcomes new players. “Anyone who might be thinking of giving it a go should come along,” said Sue. “The first taster session is free. You would be most welcome.”
The Melksham Almshouses Charities will consider grants for groups local to Melksham. For more information, please contact the honorary secretary, Zoe Pace, on melkshamalmshouses@gmail.com or call 079615 91694.
