IT was a very warm evening when Melksham WI met in the Riverside Club for their July meeting.
With all the windows and doors open and fans in operation, members enjoyed a most informative talk from Lyn Blythe on ‘Herbal Remedies from the Garden’.
Gillian Arbery reported, “We learned how common plants found in our gardens and in the kitchen can be used to provide healing medicines and tonics, and Lyn distributed information sheets with instructions on making herbal teas, balms and beauty tips.
“With the hot weather in July members were able to enjoy two outdoor theatre performances, ‘A Comedy of Errors at Lackham and ‘As You Like It’ at Frome and indoors at Bath Theatre Royal, G B Shaw’s comedy ‘Candida’. Future theatre dates include ‘South Pacific’ at Bath, Clare Teal at The Wiltshire Music Centre, Bradford on Avon and ‘One Night with Queen at Frome.
“We are also looking forward to events organised by the County Federation and an evening meal out where husbands and friends are welcome, an outing to the seaside and a skittles evening.
“At our next meeting on Wednesday 21st August we will be having a talk on the work of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance. This will be an open meeting when anyone can come along, including friends, husbands, partners and family.
“Melksham WI meet on the third Wednesday each month at the The Riverside Club, Bath Road, by the Town Bridge, at 7.30pm. Do come along. We are a friendly group and we would be pleased to meet you.”
