PHOTOGRAPHY skills, quizzes, blockbuster films and a nature walk are all on the agenda for Melksham Seniors’ regular club meetings in the coming weeks.
Every Thursday, the group meets at the Riverside Club from 10.30am to 12.30am.
Terri Welch from the Seniors says, “The Thursday sessions at the Riverside Club are gaining popularity. For the next one, this Thursday 5th July, as well as our usual sing-a-long with Sue there is a chance to brush up on your camera technique. So bring you camera, tablet or mobile and learn some tricks in taking better photos.
“On Thursday 12th July, there will be a quiz and games after Clare has loosened us up with her gentle exercises.
“On Thursday 19th July after Sue and her music has exercised our lungs, we walk to the Conigre Mead nature reserve and meet Ian Cardy, who will unveil a host of small creatures that live in our town.”
This month the group will also be showing the British war drama film, Darkest Hour, at the Assembly Hall on Monday 16th July from 2pm.
Described as thrilling and inspiring, the true story begins at the precipice of World War II as, within days of becoming Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill, played by Oscar-winner, Gary Oldman, must face one of his most turbulent and defining trials; exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation.
Plans are also afoot for another day trip for the group in September. Terri says, “The Seniors group had a very successful day out in Brecon, with a trip on a canal boat included. a further trip is planned for September, this time on the Thames, so keep your eyes peeled for details, and book quickly to secure a place.”
