‘COMMUNITY Action: Whitley and Shaw’ has been awarded a grant of £3,000 from Scottish and Southern Energy from their Resilient Communities Fund.
Chair of CAWS, Michelle Tattersall said, “We decided to apply for the fund to buy equipment which may help support our residents if we were to be hit again by a severe storm such as the one last September.
“CAWS plan to work with Melksham Without Parish Council and the flood group to spend the money on the items needed most. This may include equipment such as standby generators, a walkie talkie system, torches, camp beds and bedding. CAWS are absolutely delighted that only having set ourselves up in February this year, and having applied for our first grant to help our community we have been successful and look forward to continuing with future projects for the villages of Whitley and Shaw.”
CAWS are holding a summer barbecue on Saturday 11th of July at Shaw Village Hall between 12.30-3.30pm.
Michelle said, “You can see the recently refurbished play equipment in the children’s play area. Plus it’s an opportunity to see what CAWS are currently working on in your community and tell us about anything you would like us to investigate or work towards in your community for the future.
“We also want to know how you would like to see the play park developed in the next few years.”
