Melksham ‘Person of the Year 2013’ competition is now open, and it is time for you to make your nominations.
The competition, run by the Melksham News, will recognise a resident who has made a real contribution to the community in 2013.
Melksham has many individuals who work hard throughout the year to help other people, improve their town, and raise money for charity. Perhaps your nominee has shown outstanding acts of bravery, or offered voluntary services which have benefitted the local community.
People are now being asked to put forward their Person of the Year 2013 nominations. The only conditions are that the person is from Melksham or one of the surrounding villages or works in the town; and that the person has not previously won this award.
Ian Drew, editor of Melksham News said, “This is a chance to nominate someone who deserves recognition for their outstanding actions to Melksham over the past year or who has had the biggest impact on life in the town.”
Melksham’s Person of the Year 2012 went to Alex and Colin Goodhind who raised thousands of pounds for charity by turning their home in Longford Road into a winter wonderland over 16 Christmas seasons scooped the award
George Brown from Melksham Council for Community Service, was presented with the award in 2011.
In the previous year to that Paul Weymouth organiser of the Melksham Christmas Lights team scooped the award.
In 2009, Christine Broom a long term Cub leader for over 20 years won the award.
