POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a collision between a car and a van on the Farmers’ roundabout in Melksham.
They report, “On Sunday 29 September at approximately 7.15pm, we received a report that a silver van was seen driving around the roundabout in the wrong direction and collided head-on with a grey BMW; it then made off from the scene in the direction of Chippenham.
“Fortunately, the driver and the passenger of the BMW did not suffer any serious injuries, although they were left very shaken.
“Despite a thorough search of the area, including the use of the police helicopter, officers couldn’t locate the driver of the van.”
PC Storm Brand said, “This incident could have quite easily resulted in a serious injury on what is a very busy roundabout.
“I am certain that members of the public would have seen or heard this collision or the silver van driving erratically before or after the incident. If that is you, please come forward.
“Also, if you were in the area in your vehicle and have any dash-cam footage – please contact us.”
“Please call us on 101 quoting crime reference number 54190096914. You can also report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
