At the end of November, the Melksham Gardeners’ Society held their Christmas wreath-making night and had a record attendance from their club members – 53 members.
They report, “Suzanne Dix made the prize-winning wreath – so many congratulations to her and to all the other members who made beautiful wreaths and a table centrepiece.
“On the Sunday previously, we had all gone to Waddesdon Manor near Bicester. The gardens were still beautiful to admire in winter, along with illuminations, the beautiful aviary and the Christmas market. We also enjoyed a visit to the manor, to see various rooms decked out in their Christmas finery and to admire the beautiful manor itself. After all that, it’s safe to say we were a little tired on the way home.
“Thanks must also go to:
• the committee who set up every meeting, clean up at the end, arrange all the events and the annual show, with a special shout out for Ann, who always helps with the chairs!
• Teresa Strange for providing the rings, wire and lots of goodies that were used in the wreath-making. All the left-over greenery was donated to Teresa for the cubs and scouts for their Christmas-making projects.
• our speakers who turn out each month to inform and educate.
• the club members who help out with refreshments at club meetings and the show
• and finally, all our club members who continue to support the club every month, helping our club grow.
“Our next meeting – to which new members and guests are very welcome to attend – will be on Tuesday 28th January 2020 – I know, we are now officially living in the future BUT where are those flying cars and silver space suits? The talk will be ‘herbaceous plants’ presented by one of our favourite returning speakers – Ray Broughton. Please come along and learn more.
“New members and guests are always welcome. Entry is £1 for members and £2 for guests. Annual membership is (currently) £10. For more information please contact – Telephone: 01225 350740 Email: melksham_gardeners @live.co.uk
