MELKSHAM Oak student, Amy Perry, 12, has had aspirations of becoming a doctor from a young age, fuelled by the sad news of the closing of a surgery where her grandfather worked.
Both of Amy’s grandparents worked at hospitals and Amy’s mother works as a physiotherapist. Amy would also love to find out more about autism and mental health on her journey. Her older brother is autistic and this has given her a passion to help more people with mental health issues.
Amy’s friend Sophie said, “I think that Amy’s decision to become a doctor is perfect for her because she is very loving and caring to everyone around her.”
Principal Alan Henderson said, “We encourage students to pursue their career and sport goals and dreams, and Amy seems very determined to be a doctor.”
Report by Sophie, Amy, Olivia, Jasmine, Roxy and Ruby, aged 11- 12.
